Seasonal Sensitive Skin Self-Supporting Guide | From Flushing and Stinging to Stable and Bright: These Are the Only 5 Things I've Done

Recently, the backstage section has been flooded with posts from sensitive sisters who are sensitive to the changing seasons! "My cheeks are red like alpine red" "Everything I apply causes itching and peeling" "My T-zone gets oily but my cheeks are so dry that the powder sticks to them" ... Are you one of them? As a sensitive skin type who experiences the "bad skin period" every spring and autumn, I have gone through countless pitfalls and finally summed up an extremely practical self-rescue plan. After trying it for 7 days, I can see my skin stabilizing. Today, I will share it all with you!
First of all, it's important to understand: Seasonal sensitivity is not "skin acting up", but rather the damage to the skin barrier caused by changes in temperature and humidity, and the reduced resistance to external stimuli. So the core idea is not "strong repair", but "reducing burden + stabilizing", first allowing the skin barrier to recover its vitality.
Step 1: Simplify your skincare routine and eliminate all "unnecessary steps". Many people, when they become sensitive, will rush to add serums and masks, which only increase the burden on their skin. At this point, what needs to be done is "de-cluttering" - stop using efficacy-based products (such as acids, retinoids, and intense whitening agents), and only keep the "cleansing + moisturizing + sunscreen" trio. Choose a mild amino acid type for cleansing. I have been using Kiehl's Moisturizing Cleansing Foam recently, which produces a thick foam when squeezed out. It feels soft when applied to the skin, and there is no tightness after washing. Even the eye area can be used with confidence.
Step 2: For moisturizing, choose "recovery type" and avoid the "refreshing type" trap. For sensitive skin during the change of seasons, what is most lacking is not water, but the ingredients that can "lock in moisture and repair the barrier". I will avoid pure water-based toners and switch to moisturizing essences or lotions containing repair ingredients such as ceramides, squalane, and panthenol. For example, La Roche-Posay B5 Recovery Cream, although it has a slightly thick texture, absorbs quickly after application. Applying a thick layer at night as a sleep mask can significantly reduce redness and stinging sensations the next day; during the day, use Vichy Soothing Moisturizing Special Care Cream, which has a light and non-comedogenic texture and won't cake on when applied for makeup.
Step 3: Sun protection! Sun protection! Sun protection! The important thing needs to be said three times! The skin barrier of sensitive skin is damaged, and ultraviolet rays will directly aggravate redness and pigmentation, making the sensitive problem even worse. But at this time, thick-textured and alcohol-containing sunscreen should not be used. I prefer physical sun protection, such as the powder gold bottle of Anessa. It is gentle and non-irritating, has fast film formation, and is sufficient for daily commuting. If you are outdoors for a long time, in addition to applying sunscreen, you also need to wear a hat and use an umbrella for hard sun protection.
Step 4: Avoid excessive cleansing. Exfoliate no more than once a week. Many women believe that rough skin and loose powder are signs of "too thick keratin", and they rush to use exfoliating scrubs and exfoliating water. As a result, they make the already fragile skin barrier even thinner. During the change of seasons, it is recommended to suspend all exfoliating products. If you really feel your skin is dull, use a mild enzyme-based exfoliating product no more than once a week, and only apply it locally to the T-zone.
Step 5: "Supporting stability through diet and作息". The condition of the skin is closely related to the overall health of the body. During this period, I will avoid consuming spicy, fried, and sweet foods, drink plenty of warm water, and eat one fruit rich in vitamin C (such as oranges or kiwis) every day; try to go to bed before 11 p.m., as staying up late will slow down the repair process of the skin barrier and make redness problems more severe.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone: Seasonal sensitivity is a gradual repair process. Do not seek "quick results". If your skin shows severe redness, itching, or peeling, you must immediately stop using all skin care products. In case it is necessary, consult a dermatologist. If you follow this method consistently, you will find that your skin gradually returns to a stable and bright state, and you won't have to be afraid of seasonal changes anymore!
